Olinda PTA is proud to offer a variety of after school classes in order to enrich the educational experience for Olinda students. Olinda PTA coordinates with professional vendors as well as community volunteers to host a selection of classes held conveniently after school on the Olinda campus. We strive to make the classes affordable by subsidizing the cost for ALL students as well as offering additional scholarships.

We have quite a variety of topics lined up for Fall 2017. Is your student looking for a fun way to be active? Or maybe they’d like to spend some extra time investigating their interest in science? Do they wish they had an easy way to try a new craft? Take a look at the information below! Get your registration in quickly – classes will close registration early if they reach maximum capacity.
KINDERGARTEN PARENTS – PLEASE NOTE:
It is challenging to include Kinder students in after school classes. There is less demand for Kinder classes, so we usually must combine Kinder students with older grades. The earlier dismissal time for Kinder means that we need to make special arrangements to supervise these students. In an effort to make accommodations for the small number of interested Kinder students while also ensuring their safe care, we now have the following policy:
Kinder Students may be enrolled in any class open to 1st graders (with instructor approval) only if ONE of the following requirements is met:
- The student is enrolled in Y-Care.
- The parent or another guardian will supervise the student from school dismissal until the after school class starts.
- The parent chaperone for the class is a Kinder parent who will be there to supervise Kinder students at school dismissal.
We do have a Friday Gymnastics class for Kinder students only; use this packet to register.
UPDATE (9/15): Kinder gymnastics has reached maximum capacity and is closed to further registrations.
To inquire about Kinder enrollment in any other class listed as 1st and up, please contact: olindaPTAasep@gmail.com

West Contra Costa Unified School District provides all students and families with equal access to site-based After School Program activities regardless of their ability to pay fees. As such, all payment amounts per student for each class are considered to be suggested donations. However, if Olinda PTA is not able to collect the suggested amount per student for any given class, it is highly likely that the class will have to be cancelled. In order to keep classes affordable for all students and families, Olinda PTA subsidizes the cost for many (if not all) of the classes to offer discounted rates to our students. In addition to the subsidies, we also have a limited amount of After-School Enrichment Program Scholarships available in order to increase the accessibility of ASEP classes for ALL students. See the scholarship form if you are interested in applying for a scholarship:
Each class needs a parent chaperone. Chaperones are used in each class to help supervise the students before, during and after the classes. The parent chaperone will receive complimentary admission in the class for their student. Volunteers must have a volunteer badge issued by the school district. (If you need information on how to get a badge, contact the ASEP chair at: firstname.lastname@example.org)
In addition, chaperones will be trained to ensure that all proper protocols are taken in regard to student safety. Chaperone training will take place after school in the courtyard on Tuesday, October 3rd.
Student Dismissal and Supervision
As an extra measure of safety, students in Grades K-3rd will be supervised upon school dismissal until the start of class time by the parent chaperone. Students in Grade 4-6 are responsible for getting to their after school classes on their own. All ASEP students in YCare should go immediately to YCare upon school dismissal. They will be escorted to and from their after school class by a parent chaperone or YCare personnel.
The majority of our Instructors are paid professionals from companies specializing in after school education. A few of our Instructors are parent and community volunteers who have an expertise in a subject and strong interest in providing an opportunity for our students. All Instructors are held to WCCUSD requirements including background checks and TB tests.
